At the heart of the collection are ten themes, symbolically expressed through the words BE WATER, JUMP IN, LET’S DANCE, CONNECT, UNION, LOVE, UNSTOPPABLE, ROYAL, RESPECT, and TAKE OFF. Each theme carries a distinct energy – from calmness and connection to boldness, movement, and elevation. At Hotel City Maribor****, these themes give the rooms their individual character: some feel more serene, others more dynamic, while some convey a sense of openness or strength. Art becomes an integral part of the spatial design, acting as a visual thread that connects the hotel’s interior with the river beside which it stands.

The collection was created by Slovenian photographer and visual artist Alenka Slavinec, born along the banks of the Drava River in Ptuj. The river has accompanied her since childhood and plays a key role in shaping her artistic perspective. In her work, she combines authentic natural scenes with contemporary visual approaches. In the Dreams at River Drava series, this personal connection is transformed into a collection that gives the hotel a clear, recognisable, and locally rooted artistic identity.
